If your toilet won't flush:
Most toilet clogs are caused by a blockage preventing the basin from draining properly. You can typically clear a clog using a plunger. If you don't have one on hand, visit a local hardware store or a big box retailer to pick one up.
With the plunger in hand, press the suction cup over the bottom of the toilet. Press firmly to create a seal and pump the plunger up and down until the water begins to drain. Be careful not to flush the toilet while performing this maneuver, as that could cause the basin to overflow and flood your bathroom.
